I’m so incredibly proud to present “Animals”, a two-volume, 57-song collection of Palaxy Tracks music to benefit The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. What started as a simple vanity project — collecting rare and previously-unreleased Palaxy Tracks music from the last 20 years — turned into one of the most important projects I’ve ever worked on.

This release is something of an experiment. An attempt to turn Palaxy Tracks into a non-profit of sorts. (Believe me, I’m fully aware of the irony in that statement.) The idea: future releases will be produced as modestly as possible, and all proceeds will go directly to a partner charity or trust.

In an effort to help bring attention to this project (and, I’ll admit, make the process a bit less lonely and a LOT more fun), I put out an open invite to all of my talented friends to cover the Palaxy Tracks song of their choice, with the hope that I could get enough covers back to sprinkle into the collection or offer as bonus material.

To my surprise I ended up getting 25 unimaginably wonderful submissions, all of which I’m excited to say are included in ”Vol 1: The Covers”.

Vol. 2 is all about the archives. 32 rare and previously-unreleased songs — starting with the first song we ever recorded on a rented 8-track cassette recorder, and ending with demos and outtakes from the latest release, Wilderness (2015) — are presented here in chronological order, illustrating the change in sound over 20 years.
